Do you get that end-of-summer, back-to-school feeling as an adult? Looking forward to a fresh start, perhaps with some more DW friends? silviarambles is hosting a friending meme!
Please remember that friending frenzies work only if you spread the word, so, even if you're not looking for more friends, do pimp the meme in your own journal please!
This is a challenge to make fifty posts about fandom things. They can be whatever kind of posts you’d like - movie reviews, recs, a story about meeting a fellow fan, cosplaying … anything! The challenge runs for a year (well, 11 months), so a pace of one post per week plus a couple would do it.
See the Community index page for information about Dreamwidth communities. Aside from the usual FAQ stuff, there are sections on Recently Active Communities, Recently Created Communities, and Official Dreamwidth Communities.
Today is not actually Monday, but dialecticdreamer is hosting Magpie Monday from July 13-19 with a theme of "self-care." Leave prompts, get ficlets!
The theme is self-care. Simple, from the outside, but often difficult to think of when it’s most needed. I’m promising scenes of reassurance, comfort, and fluff at least 700 words long (in part because I hope for very, very many prompts). Posted stories will range from 1000-1400 words, and sponsors can ask for a rough word count using two cents per word as a guide. My word counts are usually generous to readers and sponsors.
Are you hoping to make new friends here on Dreamwidth? Consider doing the sunshine_challenge this year. While not as big as the snowflake_challenge in January, it is a lively event that draws more traffic to participating blogs. Lots of folks do this as a fanwork creating event, but you could just as easily do original work, make it a photo scavenger hunt for flowers, or whatever else inspires you.
